Few things feel more frustrating in Helldivers 2 than finding the perfect weapon in a Warbond and realizing you still need more progress before you can unlock it. You may have completed several missions, gathered resources, and helped your squad survive a difficult extraction, yet the reward you want remains just out of reach. Helldivers 2 Super Credits provide access to eligible premium Warbonds and Superstore offerings, while Medals are used to unlock rewards within Warbonds you already own. Understanding how these systems work together makes progression easier to manage and helps you avoid wasting rewards. With a sensible plan, each operation can bring you closer to a useful new weapon, armor set, booster, or other reward without turning every mission into a repetitive grind.

Personal Orders provide a useful way to give your next session a clear purpose. Rather than entering a mission and deciding what to do as you go, check the current order and identify a suitable mission or loadout that helps you complete it. Some orders may encourage you to use particular weapons, defeat specific enemies, or perform a certain activity. When possible, select equipment that supports the task without making the rest of the mission unnecessarily difficult. If an order asks you to use a weapon you rarely bring, consider how it fits into the squad's overall setup before deploying.

Avoid focusing so narrowly on the order that you forget the main objective. A Personal Order should add a useful progression goal, not force the team to make reckless decisions or ignore the mission briefing. If the required task can be completed naturally during an ordinary operation, that is usually the more comfortable approach. Once the order is complete, check the reward and your updated Medal balance. You can then decide whether to spend some Medals immediately or save them for an item further along the Warbond track. Regularly completing these objectives helps keep your progression moving even during shorter play sessions.

Major Orders provide a broader objective for the community and can offer substantial Medal rewards when completed. They also give players a reason to focus their efforts on specific planets, enemies, or mission goals instead of choosing operations entirely at random. Before deploying, read the current Major Order conditions and determine which activities contribute to the objective. Selecting a relevant operation allows you to work toward personal progression while also helping the wider campaign. If several planets or mission types are available, choose one that matches both the order and your squad's capabilities.

Major Orders can require sustained community participation, so avoid assuming that one successful mission guarantees the final reward. Keep track of the objective and continue contributing when practical. The reward is tied to the order's completion conditions, so understanding those conditions helps prevent confusion about when Medals will be granted.Medal pickups found during missions are a useful bonus, particularly when they appear along the route to an objective. Exploring every corner of the map, however, can slow the squad down and expose it to unnecessary encounters.
Focus on locations that are convenient to reach. If a container or abandoned structure is close to your current path, it may be worth a quick search. If the location is far away or surrounded by dangerous enemies, consider whether the potential reward justifies the extra risk.

Pay attention to the squad's condition. Players who have plenty of ammunition and reinforcements can explore more comfortably than a team already struggling to survive. If the mission is nearly complete or the extraction route is dangerous, prioritizing the main objective may be the better decision. Communication also helps prevent wasted movement. Share the location of interesting discoveries and let the team decide whether to investigate. This avoids sending multiple players toward the same spot or splitting the squad unnecessarily.
Once you have accumulated enough Medals, deciding how to spend them becomes the next challenge. Warbonds can contain weapons, armor, boosters, cosmetics, and other rewards, but not every item will have the same value for your preferred playstyle.

Start with the rewards that would make a practical difference to your current loadout. If you need a new way to deal with armored enemies, prioritize an appropriate weapon or tool. If your squad already has reliable damage coverage, an item that improves utility or offers a different tactical option may be more interesting.Remember that access to a Warbond and the rewards inside it are separate steps. Super Credits are used to unlock eligible premium Warbonds, while Medals are spent on individual rewards within the track. You also need to meet the relevant page progression requirements before accessing some later items. It is perfectly reasonable to save for a more expensive reward if you have a clear goal. Just make sure that saving does not cause you to waste incoming Medals by reaching the storage cap. A balanced approach lets you keep progressing while reserving enough currency for the items you really want. One of the most important details about Medal management is the maximum balance of 250. Once you reach that limit, additional Medals earned through missions or orders are discarded rather than stored for later use.
This means that saving indefinitely is not a practical strategy. If you are approaching the cap, open your Warbond and spend enough Medals to create space for future rewards. You do not need to purchase every available item; choose rewards that fit your loadout or help you unlock a later page.

The cap is particularly relevant before a Major Order payout. If you expect a reward soon, check your balance in advance and spend some Medals before claiming additional rewards through gameplay. This small habit can prevent avoidable losses without changing the way you play. It is also helpful to review your Warbond progress regularly. If you have already unlocked a useful item but are holding a large balance, consider whether another reward would improve your options. Spending with a purpose is more effective than letting the balance sit at its maximum while new rewards go to waste. Grinding becomes frustrating when every mission feels like a chore. A more sustainable approach is to combine Medal collection with the parts of Helldivers 2 you already enjoy, whether that means trying a new weapon, helping friends complete difficult objectives, or exploring a new mission type. Rotate your loadout occasionally so that progression is not limited to repeating the same combat routine. A new weapon may require practice, but testing it in a suitable mission can help you decide whether it deserves a place in your regular setup. You can still prioritize efficient missions without treating every deployment as a race.

It is also worth recognizing when your squad needs a break from difficult operations. A successful mission at a manageable difficulty can provide steadier progress than repeated attempts at a challenge that currently exceeds your team's capabilities. Consistency matters more than choosing the greatest difficulty simply for its potential payout. Set a realistic goal for each session, such as completing a Personal Order, contributing to a Major Order, or unlocking one specific Warbond reward. Small, achievable targets make progression easier to track and help keep the game enjoyable.

Medal progression works best when it is connected to a clear objective. Choose missions that match your ability, complete available orders, explore nearby points of interest, and spend your balance before reaching the cap. Then use the rewards to unlock equipment that fills a real gap in your loadout. If you are exploring Helldivers 2 Medals progression, remember that Medals unlock Warbond rewards rather than replacing the separate currencies used for Warbond access, Stratagems, or ship upgrades. A well-planned routine helps you collect them through gameplay, avoid losing rewards to the cap, and make steady progress toward the items that will improve your next deployment.
